PORT ADELAIDE forward Kane Farrell’s season is over after it was confirmed he had ruptured the ACL in his right knee.

The classy left footer suffered the injury early in the first quarter of Port Adelaide’s win over Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium on Saturday night.

The 22-year-old will have surgery this week.

Following the return from injury through the SANFL of Tom Clurey, Zak Butters and Jackson Mead at the weekend, wingman Xavier Duursma is expected to make his comeback following knee surgery, in Saturday’s game against Norwood.

Forward Orazio Fantasia remains at least another few weeks away from resuming after a recent knee arthroscopy, with his knee slower to recover than initially expected.

Tyson Goldsack will be assessed this week after rolling his ankle in the SANFL win over Central District while defender Lachie Jones is progressing well, and expected to be able to return in a fortnight after a hamstring injury.

Port Adelaide will name its side to face Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday evening.
