Zak Butters match-sealing goal against Central District has been nominated for Goal of the Week.

PORT ADELAIDE forward Zak Butters has been nominated for the SANFL’s Channel 7 Goal of the Week for his match-sealing snap against Central District on Saturday.

In his first game back since April following ankle and knee surgery, Butters proved his importance and class with two goals in time on in the last quarter to seal a come-from-behind victory for Port Adelaide.

Trailing all day, Butters and his teammates sparked in the final quarter with five goals without a miss to come home nine-point winners.

Butters had 21 disposals in his return along with four clearances, six marks and two goals – the second of which earned him the goal of the year nomination.

With Port leading by just three points and time ticking away, the 20-year-old was first to pounce after Boyd Woodcock’s set shot from outside 50 was blocked by the man on the mark.

Butters burst onto the ball and snapped around his body at full pace with Ollie Lord shepherding it through on the goalline to make sure of victory.

The other nominees for the Round 13 goal of the week are Tyson Stengle of the Eagles and Crow Tom Lynch.

Butters is the third Port Adelaide player, behind teammates Ben Edwards in Round 4 and Dylan Williams in Round 11, to be nominated for the award.
