Ollie Lord can avoid a suspension for striking by accepting an early guilty plea.

TWO Port Adelaide players have been sanctioned for alleged striking incidents in the club’s SANFL game against Sturt on Saturday.

Forward Ollie Lord was offered a $125 fine and reprimand with an early guilty plea for striking Sturt’s Will Coomblas during the second quarter of the loss at Unley Oval.

The incident was deemed to be careless with high contact and of low impact so Lord can avoid the base sanction of a one-match ban if he pleads guilty early and accepts the fine and reprimand.

Lord’s teammate Matthew Appleton was offered a similar fine and reprimand for a separate striking charge.

The midfielder is alleged to have made high contact with Sturt’s Jared Dakin in the second quarter, with the contact deemed to be careless and of low impact.

As with Lord, he can avoid the base one-match ban if he enters an early guilty plea and accepts the fine and reprimand.

It means both Lord and Appleton will be free to feature against South Adelaide this weekend.
