PORT ADELAIDE defender Lachie Jones is set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering an ankle syndesmosis injury during Saturday night’s win over Carlton.

Jones’ right ankle was caught in a tackle against the Blues, forcing him from the ground for a period of time during the second half.

The 19-year-old received treatment on the bench and was able to return to the field to run out the match, but pulled up sore, with scans revealing the extent of his injury.

Given the nature of the injury, surgical repair at the syndesmosis was considered the best course of action, from which Jones is expected to miss around a month of football.

Port Adelaide next faces St Kilda at Adelaide Oval on ANZAC Day evening from 6:10pm.

The team to tackle the Saints will be named on Saturday at 5:50pm ACST.
